The Clinton Park Mural Project was led by ARTogether, a partner within the Clinton Park Community Coalition, to mark the reopening of Clinton Community Center and the revitalization of the park. We based the design of the mural on both the history of Clinton Park, and our aspirations for its future. The mural features a storytelling circle under a heritage oak tree, visualizing knowledge-sharing between elders and youth. It also emphasizes a community garden, representing the park’s history as one of the key green spaces in the area, and the budding hope for the park to grow as an environmental asset and a gathering space. Youth volunteers helped paint the mural, and created patterns around the doorway to represent their cultural heritage. The patterns come together to create a multicultural gateway at the opening of the community center.
