ARTogether is an Oakland-based non-profit organization that provides art programs that foster compassionate communities where refugees and immigrants can flourish. We offer creative art workshops, organize social events, promote refugee artists, and design media projects that educate the public about refugee issues. Our goal is to build bridges within our community, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for refugees and immigrants to connect with their community in new and creative ways.
Job Summary:
Our Arts and Wellness Program fosters creativity, connection, and healing by offering free expressive art classes, wellness workshops, and collaborative projects for refugee and immigrant communities in the Bay Area. We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Program Director to develop, lead, and grow our Arts and Wellness Program. This individual will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs that align with ARTogether’s mission to cultivate belonging, healing, and equity through art.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development and Management
- Design, implement, and evaluate arts and wellness programs tailored to the needs of immigrant, refugee, and underserved communities.
- Collaborate with local artists, art therapists, wellness practitioners, organizations, and community members to develop impactful and culturally relevant programming.
- Create an annual programming calendar and manage logistics for all events, workshops, and classes.
Partnerships and Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with local artists, wellness experts, community organizations, and stakeholders to strengthen program offerings.
- Represent ARTogether at community events, meetings, and partner discussions to increase program visibility and foster collaboration.
- Actively engage with program participants to understand their needs and ensure programs reflect their voices and experiences.
Team Leadership and Coordination
- Supervise program staff, instructors, and volunteers to ensure high-quality program delivery.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to program instructors and artists, ensuring alignment with ARTogether’s values and goals.
- Work closely with the Development Director and Executive Director to align program goals with organizational strategy.
Budget and Resource Management
- Develop and manage the Arts and Wellness Program budget, ensuring programs remain within allocated resources.
- Identify funding opportunities and collaborate with the Development Director on grant applications and reporting.
Evaluation and Reporting
- Track program metrics and outcomes, providing detailed reports to funders and the ARTogether leadership team.
- Use participant feedback and program data to improve and adapt programming.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in health and wellness program management, arts administration, wellness programming, nonprofit program development experience, or a related field. Experience working with immigrant and refugee communities is highly preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in arts, wellness, education, social work, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Language: Proficiency in Farsi/Dari or Spanish is highly preferred, but not required.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and community engagement abilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and partnerships.
- Knowledge of art practices, wellness programming, and cultural sensitivity is a plus.
