Portfolio Review Workshop
Portfolios are a reflection of an artist and an expression of their skill, experience, and style—what better way for an artist to present themselves than with a perfected portfolio?
To help artists receive personalized portfolio guidance, ARTogether offers a free Portfolio Review workshop for immigrant, refugee, and BIPOC artists. This year, ARTogether presented a portfolio review panel with experienced artists Johanna Poethig (johannapoethig.com), Justin Young (justinyoung.org), and Thomas Cavanagh (bandaloop.org). Each participant was assigned a panelist according to their practice and background. Johanna, Justin, and Thomas lent their advice and expertise to our artists, and each mentee received personalized advice and constructive feedback. Participants expressed their appreciation for the workshop and reported growth in professional development, artistic vision and statement writing, inspiration, and overall direction for their work. “He (Justin Young) gave me so much to think about, and I just wanted to go straight to my studio and do more work, not any kind of work but be brave, daring…something I lost a bit during my immigration and reintegration process,” said one mentee. “The whole experience was beneficial. I got some sense direction of where I should be looking at to take my art to the next level,” said another.
We are happy to support our artists in this way. If you are interested in participating in a future portfolio review workshop, check out our website calendar or reach out to us at info@artogether.org!
